How to connect two or more computers to use the shared internet.

There are two types of computers .

• HOST ( computer connected to internet )

• CLIENT ( computers which want to use the shared internet )

The host must be connected to the internet and its internet must be shared (To share the internet . see http://aimonsoft.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-to-share-your-internet-over-lanwifi.html  )

 Settings to be configured before connecting the two computers :---

 Setting for HOST computer :-


1)  Open  Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Network and Sharing Center .

      Go to " Change adapter settings " .

2)    Select the " Wireless Network Connection " for Wireless(wifi)  OR  "Local Area Network" for LAN.

       Right click on the " Wireless Network Connection " " for Wireless(wifi)  OR  "Local Area Network" for LAN.

       Go to " properties " .

Open properties of "Wireless Network Connection" or "Local Area Network"

3)      Select " IPv4 " .

         Go to " Properties ".

4)            Select " Use the following IP address : "

               Enter the following :-

               IP address:    192.168.0.1  or 192.168.0.2  or 192.168.0.3 and so on till 192.168.0.255

            subnet mask:   255.255.255.0

               Click " OK " .

 Setting for CLIENT computer :-


1)  Open  Control Panel > All Control Panel Item s> Network and Sharing Center .

      Go to " Change adapter settings " .

2)    Select the " Wireless Network Connection " for Wireless(wifi)  OR  "Local Area Network" for LAN.

       Right click on the " Wireless Network Connection " for Wireless(wifi)  OR  "Local Area Network" for LAN.

       Go to " properties " .

3)      Select " IPv4 " .

         Go to " Properties ".

4)           > Select " Use the following IP address : "

               > Enter the following :-


                                          IP address:    192.168.0.2      or    192.168.0.3  so on till 192.168.0.255
                                      subnet mask:    255.255.255.0
                               Default Gateway:    192.168.0.1
                      Preferred DNS server:    192.168.0.1


 NOTE : 
                  1.)    ( The IP address of CLIENT(i.e 192.168.0.2 here) must be different than the HOST(i.e. 192.168.0.1) . It can  range from 192.168.0.1        to       192.168.0.255)
 
                  2.)   The Default gateway and Preferred DNS server must be same as the IP Address of the HOST(i.e. 192.168.0.1 here ).
           

Enter the IP address

                       Click " OK " .


Its Done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



After the setting for the Host and the Client has been finished , the Host should connect to his Wireless network ( i.e. " Wireless HOME " here)

The HOST will see this type of  status :--

Wireless Available to connect.

Wireless waiting for the clients to connect

The CLIENT will see this type of  status :--

Wireless connected

• Click on connect 
• Enter the password.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The clients can access the internet now.

How to set up a wireless ( WiFi ) network i.e. WLAN in Windows7 and Windows Vista !!!!
WLAN stands for " Wireless Local area network ".




Follow the steps to create WLAN :-

1)   Open Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Network and Sharing Center

click on "setup a new connection or network".

2)  Select "Setup a wireless ad-hoc(computer to computer) network"
      Click "Next"

3)  Click "NEXT".

4)     Enter network name.(you can enter any name you want to have e.g. "wireless HOME")
        Select the "type of security" you want.
                         select either "WEP"    or     "WPA2" .
        Check the "save this network box".

   Warning: No authentication type is unsecured(any one can connect to you).
                  Windows XP does not support WPA2 type.
                  WPA2 is more secure than WEP.
5)     Enter the password and remember it.
       NOTE:  This password will be used by others to connect to your network(i.e. "Wireless HOME" here )

Click "NEXT".


6)         You can share the internet from here or you can refer to http://aimonsoft.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-to-share-your-internet-over-lanwifi.html to share your internet later.

(Optional) 7)    If u want to share your internet now then click on "Turn on Internet connection sharing".

       Then click on "close".

8)Click "Connect".

Your wireless WLAN network setup is complete now.

You can now use your wireless network(i.e. Wireless HOME here)
When the host connects to this network. All other computers will be able to see the network(i.e.Wireless HOME here) and would require the password to connect to this network.

how to share your internet over LAN/WiFi

Follow the steps :-

1)Go to Control Panel >All Control Panel Items > Network and Sharing Center

• then  go to "change adapter setting".

2) Select the dial-up connection you use to connect to the internet.
    Right click on that dial-up and go to "properties".

3) A dialog box pops out.
       go to the sharing Tab.
       check the "allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" block.

4) If you want to share your internet over wireless ,then select "Wireless network connection".
   or
    If you want to share your internet over LAN ,then select "Local area network".

5) Your Internet is now shared.
